www.annualcreditreport.com – This website is the only federally sanctioned website where a consumer can request and obtain a free copy of their credit report from each of the three credit bureaus, Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax. (This is not to be confused with www.freecreditreport.com, which is a website belonging to Experian, that charges money for a “free” credit report via a 7-day trial subscription that charges $19.95 to your credit card if you don’t cancel)

www.optoutprescreen.com – The Fair Credit Reporting Act allows credit reporting companies to include your name and contact information on lists that credit card companies and insurance companies use to solicit offers of their respective services. This website allows a consumer to opt-in or opt-out of receiving credit card and insurance offers in the mail. On the site a consumer can elect to be excluded from such lists for 5 years or permanently. To be excluded for 5 years can be done on the website, but to opt-out permanently from such offers a consumer has to print, fill out, and mail in a form.

www.experian.com – This is Experian’s (formerly TRW) consumer credit website. A consumer is able to request a copy of their credit report, subscribe to a credit monitoring service, dispute the status of an account, place a fraud alert on their profile, and a place a freeze on their profile.

www.equifax.com – This is Equifax’s consumer credit website. A consumer is able to request a copy of their credit report, subscribe to a credit monitoring service, dispute the status of an account, place a fraud alert on their profile, and a place a freeze on their profile.

www.transunion.com – This is TransUnion’s consumer credit website. A consumer is able to request a copy of their credit report, subscribe to a credit monitoring service, dispute the status of an account, place a fraud alert on their profile, and a place a freeze on their profile.
